There are some things which make me so happy that I can’t help but geek out over them. Here are the books, TV programmes and interests which make me all fuzzy inside.
Harry Potter
I look at babies and small children and think “You have your whole Harry Potter journey to come” and get all excited for them. I adore the books and films and like the rest of the world I love Harry Potter clothing and creative ideas. Basically, I want to live in the Harry Potter universe.
Once Upon a Time
If you haven’t watched this series yet, why not? It’s about all of the most famous fairytale characters living in a non-magical town under a curse where they cannot remember their true identities. It’s so gripping and complex, I am absolutely hooked. I love how all of the character’s backstories unfurl and sit alongside the present day. I would really love to collect some merchandise at some point.
Tudor and medieval British history
Take me to a castle or give me a history book and I am in heaven. I love researching about monarchs and marriages, and I can read book after book on similar topics. I have memorised so much about the Tudor period that sometimes I wonder if there’s anything new left to learn! I got a BBC History magazine subscription for Christmas which is ideal for me.
Pretty Little Liars
I know teenage girls go crazy for this series and idolise the female stars, which isn’t really me. But I was completely embroiled in the whole ‘who is A’ saga, and I binge watched more episodes than I should admit to!
Reign
I resisted this for ages because I knew it would be historically inaccurate (to put it mildly) but I am so glad that I finally gave in. I love the drama, the love affairs, the angst, even the clothes which are straight out of the 21st century! It’s like a teen soap set in France in the 1580s.
Jane Austen
Everything about Jane Austen and her novels just make me swoon. The elegance, the refined yet deep nature of love, the historical period, the clothes, the balls, the trips to Bath. I want to wrap myself up in it. Jane Austen was a remarkable woman and her books deserve to be treasured for many more years to come. They are truly peerless novels!
What do you geek out over?
