The cure to monotony of life

Somewhere along the dreary pathway of life, we encounter the inevitable disease; one that infects us and spreads inside us like cancer. It is the dullness of life that creeps into us as we grow older and lose our purpose. Once we get past our adolescent years into our thirties, it is a downhill decline onto the inevitable mid-life crisis.

However, this only happens if we vacate the driving seat and take our place in the passenger side. Which, sadly, is what most of us do.

There are no real decisions we make once we grow older. We settle into the monotony of life simply because it possesses the illusion of safety. The logic being, that if you’re treading a well known path, you’ll avoid disaster.

We fear the unknown to no end. If your father is a doctor, has two kids, a suburban home and lives in California, then that is what you’ll most likely be as well. The opportunity to divert your path will present itself many times but if you’re made of the stuff that most people are made out of, you will most likely reject it.

We crave excitement yet fear the consequences; never willing to take the plunge and find true purpose in our life. But that can only lead to the inevitable, folks. If you’re the kind that values simplicity, then you’ll come out the other end unscathed and happy. But most of us are not that type.

So, that is how you ended up here. A lifeless, repetitive world with no meaning, purpose or energy. The question now is, how do we break free?

Leap of faith

You don’t have to jump of a roof to fulfill this criteria. The point we are trying to make is, there must be some unfulfilled wish you might have had once upon a time. Something you wanted to do, something you wanted to be.

Maybe you wanted to be an engineer and you never got the opportunity. Perhaps you wanted to write novels and you never got around to it. Maybe you wanted to paint, build, discover or invent.

It can be hard to let go of dreams in the practical world but that does not mean we have to disconnect ourselves entirely from them. Some ideals are unachievable and recognizing reality is often helpful. However, not every goal fits into this category.

The worldview of people has become so narrow that every dream bigger than theirs is somehow considered impossible; an exercise in futility. We are here to tell you that it’s not.

People with limited vision will always try to bring you down but that should not stop you from discovering your true potential. If it doesn’t work out, you can take comfort in knowing that you at least tried. There is nothing more wasteful than never having tried out of fear of failing. It is an insult to our inherent potential as human beings.

If you do take the leap, you may find out that you had more inside you than you ever imagined.

Disconnect from social media

Technology is wonderful. We have access to things that our ancestors wouldn’t have dreamed of. It has broadened our horizons and expanded our knowledge beyond limits.

It has also limited us in numerous ways. Consider the example of social media. It is perhaps the fastest, most diverse and most versatile medium for gaining information but yet it is a self-contained bubble.

You spend some time there and your perception of the world can drastically change from actual reality. While it reflects reality to a great degree, it also has the potential to be a complete facade.

A lot of the information you see there is exaggerated and manufactured for the purposes of sensationalism or fulfilling certain political agendas and does not necessarily reflect the actual face of the world. Tragic incidents get out of proportion coverage which makes the world seem like a much darker place than it actually is.

We are not asking you to dump all your electronics down the drain but perhaps consider taking a break every now and then to connect with the people around you and experience firsthand the blessings of the world.

Physical fitness

Being a sloth isn’t just physically destructive but also drains you mentally and emotionally. We are going to focus on the emotional repercussions of letting yourself go.

Imagine looking in the mirror every morning and not seeing the best version of yourself. Being out of shape is a natural part of life and it happens to all of us. However, society has normalized it to an insane degree.

Life isn’t what it used to be. People’s lives do not contain physical exertion anymore. We don’t walk to work because we have vehicles. We work nine-to-five office jobs, peering into a computer screen and punching numbers into a keyboard. Human beings were not supposed to live this way and therefore as much as technology has benefited us, it also takes a toll.

Physical fitness should be a crucial part of our lives because it will give us that necessary confidence, improve our body image and boost our morale so that our insecurities drain away, God willing. Not to mention the wonders it can do for our sex lives.

Nothing beats monotony better than sex. A marriage can work without physical attraction: however it is infinitely better when we feel attracted to our partners.


A bad diet will drain you of life. Like they say, You are what you eat.

Apart from the necessary macronutrients; your carbohydrates, fats and proteins, you need an adequate amount of micronutrients as well. We are talking about the Vitamins, Minerals and Fiber that most people neglect and thus end up feeling like sludge. These can be found in a wide variety of fruits and vegetables.

Mix up your meals every now and then. Try something new: if not for health, then for taste. Experiment and discover. What is there to live for, if not delicious foods.


Yes, we are aware that this is the most expensive option on the list. That being said, if you can afford it, then this is the perfect remedy to break the tedium of life.

The world is a gem and most people spend their entire lives stuck in a box without experiencing anything of the beauty that it has to offer.

Like Saint Augustine of Hippo once said “The world is a book and those who do not travel read only one page”.
